
Prof. Dr. Umit Halis Erdogan
Prof. Dr. Umit Halis Erdogan is a Full Professor in the Department of Textile Engineering at Dokuz Eylul University (Izmir, Turkey), where he currently leads the Textile Science and Fiber Spinning Research Group. He graduated from the Textile Engineering Department at Ege University in 1998, and subsequently obtained both his MSc and PhD degrees in Textile Engineering from Dokuz Eylul University. He has been serving as a full professor since 2013.
His comprehensive research and academic portfolio encompass polymer science, advanced textile technologies, sustainable materials, and functional/biomedical textiles. Specifically, his work focuses on the melt spinning of biodegradable polymers, composite materials, nonwovens, geotextiles, and textile recycling. He has published numerous peer-reviewed scientific papers in high-impact international journals and frequently presents his research at major international conferences. Prof. Erdogan is a member of the National Cotton Council, the International Geosynthetic Society (IGS), and the Turkish Chamber of Textile Engineers. He serves as the official institutional representative of Dokuz Eylul University at AUTEX (Association of Universities for Textiles). Additionally, he contributes to the academic community as the Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal, “Tekstil ve Muhendis”.
